SJV Scholars Sunday 2018

On May 6, 2018 the Class of 2022 proudly became part of a growing list of Philadelphia Catholic students who were presented scholarship certificates. Along with them the Class of 2018 filled the sanctuary of St. John Vianney Church to receive award trophies. The Scholars Program has now seen over 50 students who are either currently in the program or have completed high school and are now enrolled in college.

The incoming Class of 2022 were given an opportunity to hear some great insights as to what they can expect during their high school years. Renee Peterman, from the Class of 2019 from Little Flower High School, spoke at the Scholarship Sunday ceremony.

SJV Scholars Sunday 2016

May 1, 2016 saw the installation of our 5th group of Scholars - The Class of 2020. This year, as our new Scholars were presented with their scholarship certificates, they shared the church sanctuary with the Class of 2016. During the celebration our new Graduates were all given award trophies.

This event was an excellent opportunity for the incoming Class of 2020 to see the difference the SJV Scholars program has made for our graduating Scholars, all of whom have been accepted into college with significant financial awards.

SJV Scholars Sunday 2012

In 2012 the Saint John Vianney Parish came together to create the St. John Vianney Scholars program, which provides scholarships to deserving inner city children. Our focus was to help inner city children that were attending a parish school. The award provides a four year partial scholarship to any of the Philadelphia Archdiocesan High Schools.

The first Scholars Sunday was held on April 29, 2012 with the induction of 8 students. Today, there are 27 students in the program with the inaugural class set to graduate in June of 2016. All of our graduating scholars have been accepted to multiple colleges with major scholarship awards.

We believe that we have created a program that everyone can unite behind and truly make a difference in the lives of many children. The Saint John Vianney Scholars Program is the only one of its kind at a parish level. We are beginning to gather excitement from other parishes to follow in our footsteps. As we continue to build the program and explore other possibilities we are looking for your support.
